Hope’s Court Royal Mile High Street Edinburgh

Hope’s Court Royal Mile High Street Edinburgh is hidden in the corner between John Knox House and Mowbray House. A doorway with a carved lintel still remains. A drawing can be found in the Society of Antiquaries Scotland. Hope’s Court or Dr Hope’s Close named after a Archibald Hope. There were many Close’s and Courts that intertwined and branched off. Courts could be a tenement with a quadrangle in the centre creating a courtyard. Also the rear entrance to Hope’s Court is visible a the foot of Trunk’s Close.
