Birnam Perthshire

Birnam A village situated across the river Tay from Dunkeld was access from Dunkeld by boat until Thomas Telford the engineer responsible for building many bridges throughout Britain Built the Dunkeld Bridge in 1809. Birnam is famous for the Birnam Wood and an Oak tree reputed to be over 900 years old. This is also the wood that is most likely to be in the stories of Beatrix Potter who would spend her summers here with her family.
